FreeNote Guitars and Necks

Necks Now Available!

12-Tone Ultra Plus™ guitar necks are expertly crafted and fretted to allow 36 notes per octave, 13 limit Just Intonation licks, chords, melodies like you've never heard before all while preserving the 12 standard pitches. They come with a manual that covers theory and gives musical examples in both notation and tablature. Available for $549, these Fender-style necks can be bolted on to the body of your choice providing the most cost effective way yet to get your hands on some microtonal magic. Designed by microtonal guitarist Jon Catler, these necks let you keep the standard 12 frets per octave in place while adding 12 new frets per octave for a total of 24 frets and 36 different pitches per octave. These new frets are 7th, 11th, and 13th Harmonics straight from the Harmonic Series. They can be combined to produce pure Harmony, shimmering dissonance, or anything in between. These high quality necks feature Grover Mini-Rotomatic Tuners for superior tuning stability.
Choice of maple or rosewood fingerboard at no extra charge.

Microtonal G&L Guitars

Microtonal Guitars now available from one of America's Best guitar makers. FreeNote is proud to announce that, through an exclusive arrangement with G&L Guitars of California, we are offering microtonally-fretted and fretless G&L Guitars and basses.  These instruments are hand made in the old Fender factory in Fullerton, CA, designed by Leo Fender, and fretted by our own top luthiers.  We are especially happy to unveil the new G&L 12-Tone Ultra Plus Guitar, which keeps the standard 12 frets per octave in place, but adds twelve more frets per octave in Just Intonation, for a total of 24 frets per octave and 36 different pitches.  The 12-Tone Ultra Plus system lets the player retain the tuning system he is used to, but also gives him the option to play pure notes derived directly from the Harmonic Series.  For the first time ever, a major guitar company is getting behind microtonal guitars. Email to discuss your order. (IMPORTANT! When contacting FreeNote Music by email, you must include relevant topics in the subject line such as "microtones," "guitars," etc. Otherwise, it may be deleted as spam.)
